Woohoo! This marks my fifth week in a row of placing in the top ten for Spoonflower contests. Hello, lucky streak. Revealed today, my ‘Mornin’ Sunshine’ coffee-themed design came in 7th place out of the 255 entries. Not too shabby! I was inspired by retro Scandinavian coffee mugs and makers, especially Catherineholm coffee pots. Their vintage mod pattern is so simple and sharp…and until I score one for myself (and dagnabbit, I will I tell ya), the next best option was to draw a few. This time the contest was palette-restricted with a three color max., so I decided to go simple with old school ink pens and it worked out very nicely (and it was another fun break from being on the computer).
