Next Batch O’ Portraits

I’m still working on a few secret projects, so since there’s nothing new to report in that arena, here’s a quick roundup of my latest fabric portraits…

Something that’s rare for me, I actually made two of these gals, both with the same succulent plants but with slightly different purple backgrounds. One stayed with me and the other moved to California to live with a good friend of mine who has been apprenticing at a nursery and knows waaaay more about how not to kill a plant than I do.

I like when patterned fabrics play nicely together like these do; there are 8 different ones packed into this portrait.

This gal’s swim cap consists of flowers that were all individually edged in stitching before being secured in place with little sea green french knots, leaving their petals loose and third-dimensional.

With this portrait, I realized this latest batch of ladies are all facing left, so it seemed like a good time to make one facing right.

Along with facing right, she’s also sporting neon yellow earrings and the mask’s fangs are shiny white satin remnants from a wedding gown. I also love how my Queen Anne’s Lace floral, from my Modern Calico collection, looks like a sweet wallpaper behind her.

We’ll see what I come up with next!
